Nice, very nice. At first I thought the camera was tilted, but from the way the trees are standing it looks as if the building is really leaning off of the foudation.
A difficut shot at the best of times, you had the bottle to get it - using all the limits, and it worked, well done! Even in this state, I bet it is still a very vaulable piece of real estate.
Thanks for all the comments. The house was very dark and I didn't bring my tripod on my camping trip. I don't think the house was leaning as much as appears in the photo. I was below looking up. At the end of the summer when I go back in the area camping I'll bring my Autocord (with a tripod of course) and should get a much better negative. The print is 8X10 and I'd like to do an 11X14 enlargement. I've been going camping in the area for at least 15 years and the house has been abandoned the entire time. I know one year when I go up it will be torn down and a million dollar house will be there.
the light on this is perfect. Next time you head out to shoot it I hope it is the same. I also like the composition, with the structure in the top right corner of the image, maybe next time if you back off a bit and swing the camera a bit to the right it would exagerate the composition and create some play with perspective.
There are a few nice compositional details here. The fence coming in from the left and taller grass/weeds angling along with a branch on the right lead the eye to the door of the house. The branch coming out of the tree in the foreground parallels the rear of the roof helping to frame the building. I also like the light area on the top of the roof, either light through the trees or lighter leaves that have collected.
People have mentioned the orientation of the house. If you cover up the foreground tree the house (at least to me) seems to become even more off kilter. The large tree helps to convince my mind that the house is more straight then the actual image shows.
