Got around to printing a neg from the same roll that I posted a neg scan from the other day.
The Paterson FX39 makes for a grainy negative, and I love how that looks. It's too bad we can't get that here in the US.
Thanks for looking!
I always prefer your prints to your scans. I don't think a scan comes close to conveying your toning technique. BTW- same negative? The swans seem to have moved...
Fabulous. Yes, the grain is wondeful. And your post answer most of my tech questions . is this MGWT? I ask because it does have a more greenish cast on my monitor than I've gotten from MGIV with LPDGood to see someone else likes LPD..maybe the price will drop now that theres 4 of us
Eddie, thanks!
It is indeed a different negative. That happened by mistake, actually. Wasn't paying attention.
Victor, thank you so much!
It's regular MGIV matte, and I promise there's no green in the original print. It's just this very old and painful thing about getting a toned print to look right on a monitor. It's toned twice in thiourea (bleached back twice and re-developed), and then selenium toned.
Yes, I love LPD. It just lasts and lasts and lasts. I use it replenished, which makes a bit softer print, so my negs are a little bit higher contrast usually.
Thanks, G.
Patrick, thank you. Like these? http://www.sugimotohiroshi.com/seascape.html If 'yes' - the color me flattered. Love his work.
Steve, thanks buddy. I am happy every time a print satisfies me. Glad you like it too.
