My son. A test shot using what I call the "meat hook" -- a utility hook attached to a boom arm that serves as a headrest; it helps my subject stay in focus when I shoot 8x10 close up and wide open. Caltar 375mm lens, Impossible Project 8x10 film.
At least the face is in focus. It is truly amazing how, at f8, there is so shallow a depth of field with the large format. The catch-lights are almost perfect, and your son's countenance is sound and revealing. Nothing further to say other than the fact that, with the 'meat hook', you now know what the victims of the daguerreotype had to go through, in full sunlight! . - David Lyga
