Oh my, I don't know anything about the process, but I know I very much like this photograph! This is one I wish I could have taken, both subject and location are very appealing to me...

If it wasn't for the guitar you could mistake this shot for a portrait of Billy the Kid.
Great shot, almost timeless.

I'm surprised at 10 seconds that your highlights were so well controlled and not blown right out. Great control of your DOF as well, it really brings your eye to the subject.
