Shot some extremely expired HIE 4x5 through a Wratten 87C (opaque) filter. EI 1.5. Back when I could get this film fresh, I shot it through this filter at EI 25. Expired in 1967, an EI of 1.5 worked well.
That’s quite lovely Andrew. Makes me want to get out and shoot more of my LF HIE. Unfortunately an accident has scuppered my summer. It will be September before I’ll be photographically active again.
Lovely shot. This reminds me that I need to get out and shoot the HIE I have left in my freezer. It's not as old as this (only 2007 or 2008) but there's already a ton of base fog to deal with.
@PhotoBob results would be so similar, I'm sure... Only difference for me would be ease of printing those highlights on VC papers with pyrocat. But you could work hc110 to give similar results. Unfortunately I only have about 15 sheets left so I'd rather make photos! @sly sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you are okay. Happy to hear you have some sheet film!! Hope I can find more or there. @jtk your Turner comment is interesting. He is one of my favourite artists. @jnanian thank-you for your comment! @mooseontheloose I wish i had some HIE in the fridge! After i use up these sheets it's gone. I expect that to happen in the next couple of days!
Nicely done! I happened to come by some old (exp 2001) HIE in 4x5 and I haven't had a chance to try it. This gives me hope I can get something. I used to love it in 35mm and my fridge stash is all I've ever had in 4x5. I just need some time to do it.
