This is the bonnet mascot on a old jaguar, Can't remember the model which is worrying as i'm just a bit of a petrol head. I Know its very contrasty but I wanted to give the chrome punch.
From one petrolhead to another you got me wondering, titrisol, so I looked up my Jaguar Bible (Porter, P[1988]. Jaguar History of a Classic Marque. London. Quintet Publishing Ltd) and the most similar mascot I can see is of a post war 3 1/2 litre Saloon. The name Jaguar was added to SS in 1935 e.g. The SS Jaguar 1 1/2 litre Drophead Coupe. SS was dropped in 1945, due to the "unpleasant connotations" and the company name changed to Jaguar Cars Ltd. However the initals did reappear in 1957 with the announcement and production of the Jaguar XKSS, of which there were only 16 made. It was never officially stated what SS stood for, it could have been Standard Swallow, Swallow Sidecar or even Super Sport.
