This creeps up on me. First, I see a shot of ruins, nice columns. Execution is normal rmann (obscenely good). 'Look at columns some more and notice the inscriptions in the foreground & realize they're headstones. The low angle makes this known, but with only the foreground showing the detail, the inscriptions don't grab attention away - more like setting some of the feel of the place. The reflection from the foreground stone lining up w/ the sky through the arch & the smaller portal below sort of complete the tour for me. 'A more than meets the eye or one that rewards a slow eye. Its a pleasure to look at, rmann.
Nice shot. I think I've been there. Off to the left, there is a window. And behind the window, there is, or was, a Celtic cross. I recognize the pillar. I had good luck and good results with the photo. And I used my C220!
Again, thanks for the kind comments - I did not take notes on the exact location, but I do know it was on a trip that was to the west coast and the abbey was on a list of recommended stops for tourists. Bob
@Drew B. The trip was about 10 years ago, my memory is too far gone to recall just where it was. I am sure there are a lot of ruined abbeys near Galway, and all of the ones I went to were interesting. Bob
