One of a few shots taken during a raku firing at my local community college. Ceramic pieces fired to about 1800ºF are taken out glowing bright orange and placed in metal containers lined with crumpled newspaper and sprinkled with sawdust. The carbon liberated reduces oxides in the glaze to produce all sorts of iridescent sheen. (Great fun for those of us who like to play with fire!) Could have used faster film, but the camera was already loaded.
