in the image, whether the shine of grease, the humid rust or the dull patina. Makes the image very vivid
You got it right, Hi Ho. You opted for 'excess' contrast, and, as a result, made this come alive. You cannot do this with every scene, obviously, but with this, it works. - David Lyga
David - thank you. I was ambivalent about the contrast also, though none was added. 'Resulted from gross underexposure, despite my gyrations to get it right. There are other images from the series that look similar but are from heavy weathering of wood, iron & a generous helping of lichen covering the wood - hard shadows thrown everywhere. Your help here, and Eric's on the Chevy hood are having their affect on my thinking while composing.
