Nice textures Mr Silver. Hope you weren't lying down to take the shot.
My critique would be the top left corner is not doing anything for me. The ice and running water are a great contrast. Maybe if the ice and running water were diagonally apposed?
I think you are going to have to go out again and rethink the angle......dont freeze to death I would feel bad.
BTW Im not worthy to critique so feel free to ignore.
awty, Thank You! 'Wasn't lying down, but have thought the perspective would have been better if I had. You have me thinking about the composition. I was seeking the progression of light values to follow the fall of the water - upper left to lower right & capture as much detail as I could w/ the texture of the ice. The thick top arch of had me thinking of the form of a ring w/ the top sphere being a stone atop the ring. Having a Mrs that makes jewelry leaves one w/ such fevered thoughts. With higher temps, additional shots/perspective would have come more easily.
FWIW, your critiques are very welcome to me. We seem to have a few modes of seeing things that are similar, making your thoughts very handy. All best, awty & thanks again.
Maybe slightly wider view and more even back ground would bring out the ring shape better. The black rock isnt helping.......or if its too cold, crop out a bit of the top so there is less water and give it a black frame. The ice will jump out more then.
It is kind of half way between abstract and interesting information. Not abstract enough and not enough information. I think perhaps it would be better to give some context like backing up a step to show the source of the icy water.
dpurdy, thank You. I would have liked a bit more headroom on it & backing up or shooting portrait orientation would have given that. I appreciate your kind help.
