Gents, thank you. These larger scenes that aren't architectural aren't a natural subject for me. 'Always easier to obsess on some detail and make it the subject. I appreciate your kind help - espec. in areas I have no natural feel for.
You did a nice job of balancing the interior and exterior light levels - that's really tough to do especially in a scene like this. I too like the blurred motion - I feel like you could have pushed it further with a longer exposure to increase the drama of the blur vs still.
David, thank you for looking & posting anyway. I appreciate your eye every time.
TFC. This is good for me to hear. I have little experience w/ making blur look good. I wouldn't normally think of 'more or less' & that more might really be more. Thank you. These kinds of arrows are just what my student quiver needs.
You have caught the organized chaos of travel at this time - and the Santa hat places it in time. There's a balance to be drawn when blurring people with time exposures - practicalities aside - in that heavy blurring puts the emphasis on the building or the passage of time but suppressing the human aspect. You have enough blur to indicate the flow of people, but retained enough 'stills' to put a human face on it.
Great use of ambient light, I really love the mood here. Santa makes it for me ! Don't know why, but this one reminds me to a Dickens novel ... Well done !!
Although I personally do very little "hand of man" scenes, I can still appreciate the work of others in that arena. This is excellent IMO and I like the blurred people showing to be on the move so to speak.
