Sometimes it works - and you're no stranger to range. Very little adjustment - a little overall brightening, about same amount of highlight burning - mostly on the paper blotter. The actual project has been yrs in the making. Face detail and wing enamel may take a few attempts, but her proportions and anatomic accuracy are already better than the originals - a more sensual form. I'm a bit proud.
Update: rechecked settings, the adjustment was all brightening - nothing else.
Smiles. My pride is really in the Mrs' work. She's the artist in the family. Here, she's carving the body to be cast in gold and then receive multi-layers and colors of transluscent enamel. The Wings will be 'plique a' jour' (light of day) - clear gradiated colored enamel in gold or silver frame w/ no backing - like a miniature stained glass window. Some of the pride is that its taken yrs for her to screw up her courage to tackle the project. http://www.barcelonayellow.com/bcn/image/2603
DWT - yes. The whole story of Masriera is interesting. 'Terribly successful already & gets one exposure to this work at the Paris Expo about 1900 and stopped doing everything else, sold finished stock & gems to go all in on this kind of art. 3 generations later, you can still get it from the family.
I love to see this kind of shot come from film. It's not easy for me (maybe for others?). I see scenes like this lighting-wise and just pass because I've never captured one anywhere close to as well done as this. So, great job with the photo!
As for the jewelry/figurine, WOW! I've made some things using soldering and many by stringing beads or wire-wrapping, but this is mad skills. Please convey my appreciation.
