thought I'd try lithing the Ilford Art paper. wasn't entirely sucessful. Never got a true black - just got muddiier if left in the developer longer. Used this high keyish one to experiment with hand colouring. As I suspected, the tooth of the surface held the pastels well.

The scan really shows were I was sloppy with the hand colouring. If I thought it was a "keeper" I'd tidy it up with an art eraser.

The hand coloring looks good on my screen, and paintings you must see from a distance.

I think your coloring is fine. It's not supposed to be perfect - just free! As Bertus says, "see from a distance".I've been trying this paper and find it hard to get the brilliance sometimes. Otherwise I like it. It does take coloring quite well, both pastel and artist pencil. I'm glad we have it available.
