Immigration Protest March. The message conveyed by the marchers and their megaphone barking cheerleaders was that all people regardless of legal status should have all rights and accesses to governmental aid and that the American Flag and the Mexican Flag should merge - creating one nation.
My buddy and I were scouting locations for a fashion shoot among other things. We got caught up in traffic due to barricades and were obvilous of the current event. While trying to exit the area and get to our destination we hit another deadend. So we decided to take advantage of the situation. He was using his DSLR and I haven't seen his shots except a few and they are good. I went through a roll and a half of film. I'm not impressed with the quality of the Sigma set-up. My first time using it, so I will give it another go someday. Thanks for replying!!
I'm going to agree with David, and also a bit of feedback. I've been to events like this and the color photographs, while they are more accurate, they appear more like home photos than what the mind thinks about news and issues. To me, those things are more press oriented and because of the history of that media I can't help but think these photos you took would look more like traditional news. I don't know though, I'm just one guy, but after I took photos of last years tea party events I found local to me I look back and wish I did them in black and white. Just a thought.
I appreciate your point of view. Color film was all I had. It was an unplanned stop and my first shooting a march. But you drove a point...I should always carry B&W in my bag. The B&W would have been more photo-journalistic I agree, however the vibrancy would have been lost.(although my overexposure didn't help in the vibrancy dept.) I can still hear them shouting.
I guess I could try to convert them into B&W but I'm not really into that PP phenomenon at the moment. Maybe a little tweak on exposure but nothing more. I'm anxious to see my friend the Nikonian present his digital shots. Nonetheless, I welcome all comments. Thanks again for your feedback.
