I was quite amazed of the smoothness and the glow possible with this new, to me, 150 mm Petzval mounted on my 4x5 Tachihara.
Ida also helped me develop and print the image on Christmas eve, one to give each grand parent.
Matti, this is a charming image. She looks like a great photographer in the making. The softness is very nicely shown in this image, a very dreamy look. I got an old Petzval recently, which isn't in a shutter yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing the first image from it. tim
Thank you!
Tim: How are you going to put it in a shutter? I just used my hand but it sure would be nice to have a shutter for this one to be able to use it outside. Packard?

Matti, this is a very nice close up of a very lovely young lady. Good job. I think that a Packard is the way to go. I have two small brass lenses for the 4x5. They are both about 115mm lenses. I call them my Petzval macro lenses. I use one of those universal lens mounts and a Packard and it works great.
Thank you Tim and Jim. Mounting in a real shutter seems a bit expensive to me right now. So I suppose I will just keep my eyes open for a Packard shutter.

Matti, the Packard shutter will work very well for your lens. They are simple and work every time. I want to be able to control light as well as shutter speed, so the alphax #3 looks to be about right for my needs. Will have to redo the aperture scale, but just something which works will be interesting. I have a 7" petzval, which should be good for 4x5 portraits.
Again, you have taken a very nice image. I'm sure your family enjoyed the pictures you gave them. Ida must have enjoyed the whole experience. I'm surprised you didn't use the Efke 25 for this one! best, tim
Aha, I forgot about apertures! Seems like I don't use that novelty any more As always when I make a picture that I like, I give away all copies...
About efke25: This one was actually 1/4 a second (just my estimate...) and having Ida sitting still that long was difficult. In one second, I am sure she would have been quite blurry...
