Ice Stalactites with cool pattern

I'm tired, I didn't have a good name for this. I saw these amazing patterns in the sunlight of the melting icicles on the side of my house and had to grab a shot, so cool the things mother nature brings!

Neat... like the pattern and the film grain are interacting somehow! Was hoping it was some strange kind of salt crystal formation when I first saw it...

Ice seems to be a continuing story from our Northern friends...makes for interesting photos. As Alex has stated, the only ice down here is in our G & T's

That's cool.

Why did you push the film so far in this situation? You must have had enough light to shoot at box speed.

Tony, we have had a very challenging winter in North America this year, but it's been fun to take advantage of it... Gin and tonics - summer! You guys must be winding down your summer currently. Now what are you going to drink?

Thanks Logan and everyone NOT in the frozen north :smile:Thomas, you must not have read all of the details of my salt submission (or I forgot to mention it). Basically I am continually doing testing on HP5+ to see just how flexible it can be. This is for multiple reasons, but mostly in preparation for if and when D3200 stops being produced. HP5+ is an incredible film, I've gotten some amazing images shot at 3200 on HP5+ and I wanted to see if it could be shot at 6400... because D3200 can be much more easily, but I wanted to know if it were possible with HP5+Anyway, I like to shoot these images "as I go" because I want to see how they react in different lighting situations, and also, using different light metering methods. So this happened to be the film that I had loaded in the camera, and the same with the salt submission, however, knowing that, I used it to my advantage to be able to shoot in natural window light, knowing I could get down to fully open and handheld and even with bellows extension still be ok for 1/500 or 1/250 shutter speed etc.

I'm glad you're getting some results, Stone, and pushing boundaries. It's a good thing to look beyond what most folks think is possible. As long as you're happy with the results, nothing else really matters. I agree HP5+ appears to be a very flexible film that I am very happy to use for everything.
