'Handsome image of a gorgeous tree - one I'd gladly look at many photos of. If you're not far from that tree - get more shots. This one's good. The subject is unusual, interesting. Detail shots, perspective shots - its just a neat tree. 'Hope you're proud of this shot. Its really good.
Oh, it is a bit of a hike to get to the top of this peak...two or three days depending on my hurry. I spent a day and a night on top for my 60th birthday (a dry camp). I believe I spent my 40th up there, too. There is a spring about 200 feet below the peak on the north side to get water in the morning. Not a particularly high peak for California, but pretty good for the coastal range...6700'. Due west 60 miles is Kings Peak, of Lost Coast fame. I have negatives of this tree from all directions -- it has a changing character as one moves around. One of my favorite trees in the wilderness.
Bravo Vaughn - a hard fought image, well worth the pain. 'Wish I could carry some extra water for ya so you could have a bit more comfort shooting. Its really sweet. Thx for posting.
