I was immediately drawn to the lights on this historic hotel, standing out in the dark of an early evening. A bit of patient waiting found a moment that felt right.
Nicely done. Bethlehem is about 40 minutes or so from me and I said to myself "gee I don't remember a hotel named the Porter" -- obviously my caffeine is slow kicking in! The Hotel Bethlehem is a classic landmark in the downtown.
I was on the road, and didn't want to have to worry about my Mamiya 6 or Leica. The black-body Spotmatic I have is in great shape, an aesthetically beautiful camera to look at and has terrific lenses, to boot. It's a great walking around camera.
The downtown there also has a great Irish pub and two authentic Thai restaurants...an easy place to spend a lot of time in.
I too like the early Pentax film cameras. I have a pre Spotmatic with a Super Tak 50mm 1.4 that is a dream to use. I took into a very dodgy area in southern Mex many moons ago and it performed like a champ. Back then I had a 28mm and a 135mm for it as well. All Pentax lenses. My daughter has it now.
I've got the 28/3.5 and soon will pick up the 135/3.5 for it. The camera was great, sadly the film was fogged after being checked (against my will) into baggage. Higher X-rays and/or cosmic rays up at 30,000 feet really fogged the film. This was one of the few I was able to rescue.
