Eric, Thanks for asking. I "like it" because it's got both dynamic shapes (which give a sense of motion or direction) and it's got very sweet grains of detail.
Horseshoe Canyon Fingers might have similar potential...would call for exploration of grains of detail and, perhaps, dark vignetting of corners or more.
The Fingers image actually has incredible detail, especially in the foreground. The individual grains of sandy dirt are clearly visible. I tried a darker vignetting in the corners and didn't like it. I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla
