Hoar Frost

Hoar Frost

I must apologise for the quality of the scan, this is a 16x12 print and I could only scan it in two parts and the print wouldn't lay totally flat hence the strange patches at the top and on the right hand side of the image - the digital bit didn't work too well!

I went looking for some subjects pre-dawn, on the way to work in the thick fog and hoar frost that coated our area for a couple of days in December. I took this shot standing on one of the kick plates in the open door of my car to get a more elevated view.

I chose Fomatone paper and very diluted lith developer for its muted tones.

- very English, hedgerows and frost....not nostalgic in a sentimental way, but gritty & elemental - very nice indeed, the lith treatment is perfect...

Wow! Don't worry about the scan we all know it will never match the beauty of a real print.

A very striking image. Love the lines that lead you into the image.

That's a wonderful print. Thanks for posting

I think what brings this whole thing together is the fact a 35mm negative was used and the graininess of it.
