Dated to '1719' but probably late C17th in origin. Wonderful collection of C17th, C18th and C19th windows inserted as fashions changed - but no attempt to give the house a more classically styled, symmetrical frontage, which happened to many Dales houses in after 1750.
Thanks for the comments. The roofing material is a local sandstone 'flag' (known locally as 'stone slates') extracted from a quarry which is only about 500 metres away from the house. This was quite a large stone quarry in the C19th and much of the roofing in the immediate area was covered in this material. We now know this wasn't the best of the local stone slates as Burtersett slates have a reputation for failure due to geological conditions causing lamination. They seem to be lasting on this house but the building has been empty for a number of years - I believe the landlord lives in Bristol, about 250 miles away, so the building will undoubtedly deteriorate.
