High and Dry

Taken on recent APUG get together. One of my first efforts with 5x4. Quickload Fuji Velvia. Old Crown Graphic with 127mm Ektar. f5.6 to isolate boat. Scan of transparency (thanks for the help with the scans Mark!).
Thanks for your kind comments Sandeha.
I guess the soft soft light of the very early morning (around 6:30 - 7:00am) is responsible for the look of this... and the groynes image too. The scene was almost monochrhrome. Your comment reminds me of something I heard from a photgrapher I admire (Andrew Nadowlski) - he told me that he uses Velvia when colours are soft... and reaches for Reala (or even Astia) when it's bright and punchy. An interesting approach.

I think Velvia brings this kind of 'soft' light to life. This is a beautiful, subtle image. I knew I shouldn't have stayed in bed!

I enjoyed watching you shoot it... I thought then - damn, that is a shot I should've seen, would I have taken it at that angle... No I don't think I would've. But then again on reflection; the final image is fine. The mood is spot on.

It's grand.
