High-altitude lake

Exquisite, a lovely shot the color is great and the composition is very good. The Alpine vegetation is discernible in even up towards the peak of the Mountain. The wisps of vapor at the peak provide the realization that up there the wind is not as forgiving as it is at the lake. The whole scene reminds me that at 10Kft there is very little dirt left to stand on and your at the mercy of Nature in the Raw. You nailed it right on the sweet spot for me.

I would have to say that the lighting is too even across the entire picture failing to lend impact to any one feature. Later or earlier in the day would I feel have offered you a better photo.

Yeah, that's the natural world for you--too many features! Earlier in the day, we hadn't gotten there yet, and later in the day, it rained.

I do want the critique, but I don't promise not to critique the critique. Otherwise we might take it too seriously.

Here's another critique. The picture is entitled "High Altitude Lake" yet it occupies only 1/3 of the photo and is totally devoid of interest. Your photo is dominated by the mountain which looks as if it got a full flash in the face from the flash mounted on the camera.
No need to take this critism too seriously.
