Our dog gifted us with six of them. The puppies paid the rent and for groceries one summer when we were in grad school. We bred the dog pictured in my other dachshund posts solely in order to sell the puppies.
Six puppies and mama dog in a third-floor walkup apartment.

Yup, Eddie: at this stage it does not look like a hound bred to hunt European badgers. With dacshunds, looks can be deceiving. Form follows function. They are designed to go down into badger hole. Heck of a way to make a living, methinks.
