This is an image taken by a friend of mine with a 35 year-old inherited camera. He's unhappy with it because of the muddy look and lack of contrast. If it were black and white I'd say it was underdeveloped and/or underexposed, but since I rarely do colour I'm looking for some expert opinions. My friend is mainly a digitalist, and I don't want to see him turned off film after one roll.
First mistake is that it's underexposed, but by looking at the sky, the day was pretty dull as well, so your light was flat to start with. Also, consumer films like Superia are not necessarily the best options if you're looking for accurate and/or pleasing colour reproduction. He would be much better with the pro line films, which have a much better gamut.
I haven't shot color film in a while, but I agree with Michel.

I would cut the ISO in half. That will get rid of the green in the shadows. This could be tweaked in Photoshop. I made curve adjustments and I destaurate the greens in HSB.
