Many years ago, my Brother burned a hole in Dads Leica M3 that way. He was photographing an eclipse. Dad wasn't happy - to put it nicely. Be careful.

Luckily there's a mirror in the way on the f2 and a slightly cloud obscured sun at about 500th isnt going to burn anything......and a f2 is about a 5th of the price of a Leica.......Yes I can see your dad would of been quite upset.
