Heddal Stave Church

The largest stave church in Norway, built in the early 13th century.

Survived a botched restoration project in the mid 19th century, to be restored to former glory in the 1950´s Its not Canterbury or Saint Paul´s, but impressive none the less.

yes just like some russian church's must be very dark inside ...no light from windows

What a building, it just seems to keep going up and up, excellent.

Thank you all. Its a three tiered stave church, they didn't make them bigger. They didn't need to either, if Norway is sparsely populated now, it was even more so 8 centuries ago. However it is surprisingly unadorned, compared to other stave churches. Very little carvings and dragon heads.

Pity Legacy Pro is no more, its a pukka 100 speed film. At least Fuji are still making Acros, the original.

Love it Eirik.

Reminds me of my holidays. Have been there in 2007. Very impressive building with an odd smell of tar. Thanks for posting
