Headless angel

Some group of religious fanatics that "don't believe in images," removed heads and hands
from most statues of this cemetery in Quezaltenango, northwest Guatemala, leaving tombs
and mausoleums with this eerie look.

I could stare at this for some time. As a record shot, as artistic composition, technicals - range is amazing & and the rendering of the sky is most compelling for me. Composition keeps me wanting more - mroe detail shots fo the sculpture, curious about the story - obviously either wealthy or very well loved. Execution - I'm jealous. Tones are so distinct. I hope you had fun getting this.

Headless Angels - if I ever create a Rock band, that's what I'd call it. At least I beat Dave Barry to it !
I took this image during a photography course I tought at the american college in Guatemala. I took my 8x10 with me and had every student expose one plate. By the end of the day I took several plates for my own pleasure. Many of these cemeteries carry strange and fascinating stories, but not all show them like this one.
