Its always interesting to look at a shot like that.... perhaps not for a non-photographer... but there is a lot going on.
Great Sky/Clouds
The flat fields have a head-on collision with the hills... which is cool looking
And then that one water tower really makes for a more intriguing picture.....IMHO

Are you a farmer, is it typical for hay to be rolled up like that.?
I am used to seeing it in rectangular bales. I am just a city guy though.

@CMoore I am not a farmer but I do have a vegetable garden every year  I agree with your assessment, my wife may disagree but she is not a photographer. I like interest in my images and love searching for scenes like this. Around these parts, all the hay is baled like this and in my limited experience, most bales are this way in the south...seen in the winter being fed to the local cattle farmers as dairy and beef cattle farming is also popular (as well as traditional crops) around these parts.

@Stephen Prunier Thank you. It can be a struggle at times with trees in the background. Luckily I had the light to my advantage. I think I was focusing about mid bale as well, hoping to have foreground and background in focus which can be challenging at times with a 90mm and handholding. I can usually get away with slow speeds and small apertures shooting a rangefinder, this was probably f/8 and if I was really chancing my handholding, f/11.

Cmoore - These bales are about 6ft tall and are moved around with a spear attachment on a tractor and put out into a feedlot with a feeding ring around them. Heck of a lot less labor then those 60lb square bales we had when I was a kid. My first job was as a truck driver when I was 5 years old. I would steer the Studebaker pickup through the field and the 2 high school guys my dad hired would load it as we went.

Lovely landscape with great tones. You did well with Delta 100. And that little Leitz 9cm ƒ/4 is a gem. I bought a used unit for $45 and am amazed at its performance.

@Kodachromeguy Thank you!. You did better than me, I think I paid $95 about 6 or so years ago. It is a great little lens and is sharp wide open. I have enjoyed it and don't feel the need for anything faster. Heck, it's on a rangefinder. I can hand hold this with no issues at 1/30
