Having a good time

At a family gathering on Saturday I shot this picture of one of my brothers. He was having a really good conversation with an old family friend.

The print(s) all have a terrific tonality, which is missing on the screen. So far I've done prints up to 12x16" and the grain structure is beautiful.

Great picture. Funny how a split second's animation can convey so much of a life.

Thanks.

Wonderful expression! I like his tie and everything! On my monitor the scan lacks true blacks but its just a scan...

Thankyou for the comments. His tie is a dark red and cream, the jumper is black and his shirt is an off white colour. My monitor shows a cool skin tone when in fact it's a neutral to warmtone colour. Yes a split second is all it takes. I had asked my brother for a picture, he obliged by stopping talking to our friend whilst I ran off two frames with him posing. After the two frames were done our friend said words to the effect that he looked terribly stiff for those pictures, he started to reply along the lines, "yeah I know, he never gets a good one of me", at this stage I shot the third frame and had quickly wound on and on impulse pressed, the shutter for a fourth and final shot. I didn't see this in the viewfinder but after developing the film on Saturday evening I scanned the wet film over the lightbox and got interested, Sunday morning I was in the darkroom to do a quick contact sheet, got excited over this frame so I did a few 5x8" and a couple of 8x10", one of which I dropped over to his place before lunch on the way to friends place for lunch. Forgot to mention that I used my 105 2.5 nikkor, it's perfect for these family things. Mick.
