He had assistance from the local open air pharmacy. I normally wouldn't have included him but there was no other way for me to frame this so that I liked it.
30-60 seconds? a tripod? That's ballsy. I used to work in a shelter in the DTES and I don't even have the guts to walk around at night with a tripod in that area unless I had a gun or something. It's not that bad during the day, but I'd still be nervous with all the eyes watching and sizing me up and thinking "I wonder how much rock I can buy with that camera gear?".
The photo is great too. I makes the DTES seem like Commercial Drive with the colourful art and clean streets.
