Tried over and over again for a convergence of sleeping baby camera, tripod and time to no avail. Finally did a handheld groundglass focus on Harper at a distance of about eight inches, with the bellows extended out what seemed like a bit more than that. Visually noted the distance of lens to baby and commenced chasing her down with the speed graphic handheld while cranking off exposures from my Grafmatic film holder. Of the six, two were in moderate focus, of the two, this was the best composition.
This is also my first experience with POP paper. I'm sure the neighbors are wondering what I'm doing as I dash out repeatedly to the front yard, put a wood frame on the rear window of my car, facing the sun, and stand there watching what seems like nothing in particular, then suddenly grab it back and dash inside. What a nutcase. :)
Original has fewer highlight blown and lots more shadow detail. There's good pupil/iris separation on her right eye, and perceptable separation on her left eye.
The wavy lines from her right cheek are, I presume, uneven development lines. I loaded up the six sheets in a Yankee tank, having decided that maybe if I just load every other slot, I might be able to get even development out of it. When I opened it back up, I'd inadvertently loaded two sheets in adjacent slots. This must have been one of them.
