Haarlem By Night

I just went back and looked again at your body of Haarlem and Amsterdam night time photography, instead of just one by one, and I'm really impressed at this great project you've got going, and sad I wasn't paying attention and didn't see it as a whole until now. I really love the tonalities that you are able to capture through your long exposures. In addition to (likely) moonlight, you've got great luminous values from the lamping, wonderful atmospheric scattering (like the post lamp on the right) and the shadowing effect of the lamping through the trees on the wall. Also, your printing is beautiful.

Thanks David, I really appreciate it. Yes, with these two series you mention, I really have made an attempt to make something like a "comprehensive" series of photos belonging to a single body of work. Like you noted, I do seek to find these specific kinds of "lighting" conditions that fit my view of the town, which is actually quite hard, and sometimes also depended on weather conditions, like in this one.

I am currently attempting to find a publisher for the "Haarlem by night" series, as I know that there is a market for such a photo book here in Haarlem (besides possible interest via APUG ;-)), as this town has already seen lots of publications still available in the current book shops, but not so many photo books, and certainly nothing like the way I have attempted to photograph the town. A few book shops have already shown interest after a quick survey by myself, but finding a publisher is a different story as we all know...
