Haarlem By Night

Gateway and entrance to Frans Hals museum.

This rather ominous looking gate is actually the entrance to a jolly nice and inviting museum at daytime: the Frans Hals museum, featuring a nice collection of 17th century paintings by Dutch master painters like Frans Hals and Goltzius.

Don't ask me how that ominous mushroom cloud shadow came into being... I guess the ghosts of it's four century history rattle their chains at nighttime...

For the less poetically minded: something to do with the symmetrical position of the lights, the arch and the doors rims...

But I am quite thrilled to have been able to capture this unexpected nighttime "transformation"...
