Haarlem by night

One of the famous dutch "Hofjes", former houses for the elderly, retired and widowed people, this "hofje" is particularly beautiful, and sure has the most impressive entrance of any "hofje" in the Netherlands with it's colonnade.

this is a wonderful series, you've got the perfect contrast happening for urban night time scenes. this one has particular appeal, great sense of space and, of course, mood.

Much of that wonderful contrast is due to the winterly weather conditions, cold and humid, causing a diffusing fog. A rare occasion, and I am glad I went out to take the chance and see what I could come up with, despite the low temperatures.

Thanks for the comments...
