Gunnerside in Snow

Gunnerside Bottoms in Swaledale. I posted an image of this last year and bemoaned the lack of contrast in the shot due to lighting conditions, filter used and poor choice of paper. Well, this certainly has lots of contrast – maybe too much for some people’s taste? Perhaps a border might also help?

this is great - there is plenty of contrast, but looks to be within detailed limits on my screen. It has a wonderful sense of depth, I think a black border would ruin this - keep it as is. Nice one.

I like this a lot, the contrast is really good, and the composition too. I wonder how it would look if you would crop out the horizon on top and concentrate on the lines in the snow only. But obviously, I like it very much as it is.

Draws your attention to the buildings which are almost in a 1:1 mathematical relationship with each field. It's geometry as much as landscape. No snow and less contrast and this element disappears.

I like the effect.

Even though this has, as you said, a more of a graphic art look, it is a really nice shot.
