Gum Over of a Previous Print

This is a small (~4x6") gum over palladium print that I finished this weekend.

Took me a while to get there, but I am SO happy about the final result and thought I would share.
Here's a link to the straight Pd print:

Jeremy,

The prints look nice, however on my monitor the gum over has a brownish (?) tonality.

How do you see the difference...I am thinking of taking Kerik's class....Is there a big difference in the beauty of the two prints

Dave,
It should be brown or I did something wrong! My gum mix was about 4-1 of Burnt Umber to Indian Yellow; I figure if I want a warmtone then I want a WARMTONE

I'm loving the gum printing (and I have been doing a lot of straight gum printing--no gum over) and the endless opportunities and experimentation it offers.

In comparison to a straight Pd print, I find that my gum over prints (all 3 of them so far) have a lot more depth. One thing I have yet to try is doing a lamp black (very deep black pigment) over my pd and see what that does to the DMax.

I am lucky enough to own a copy of this image... (not gum over pd though) Be jealous, it's ok... hehehe

joe
