Beautifull ! I tried my first roll of Rollei IR and the negatives are unprintable. This has a wonderfull tonal range. Was it a long hit and miss approach, or can you establish your EI through standard testing ?
Rollei IR400 FILM After years of using Kodak HIE IR film I had a go at using the Rollei IR 400 film. I loaded my Xpan with the film and attached the R72 filter to the lens. The camera is a rangefinder so I've not problem with focusing.A beautiful sunny day gave my hand meter set at 6 ASA a reading of f8 @ 1/25 sec. I had to settle for f8 @ 1/15 for my exposure. For my second shot I picked on f11 @ 1/15 sec. I shot the entire film in this manner. Development I gave the film a pre soak for 5 minutes and then developed it for 6 minutes in stock ID11. I followed through with my normal Stop and Fixer routine and several washes as per the Ilford method. My only moment of doubt occurred when I poured out the pre wash to see that it was a black liquid. But my negatives look fine with detail on them all.
Thank you all for looking and commenting. Peter, Vincent is pretty much on the mark here with his experience and also the luxury of using a rangefinder. Having never shot Efke or Kodak HIE, Rollei was the only player left. Typically, I use an EI of 12, an aperture ranging from f11-f16, prewash the film, and develop in HC110 (B). Thank you for your comment Peter and Vincent.
