Thank you for your comment. I hope you end up liking it! I've heard the critique before about many of the images in the portfolio being centered, and not everyone agrees with that this approach. Somehow, however, I am trying to "engage" my subjects very immediately and directly, and sometimes that calls for a dead-on composition (at least to my mind). As far as cropping goes....I'm old school. But thank you very much for looking and for your comments. Gary.
I like the dead on composition, it reminds me of some Irving Penn studio work, but outdoors... While the initial reaction might be to comment on the simplicity of the images, I think you've done something nice BY keeping it clean and direct. You show these people in an/their environment... I like the fact that you're not only focussing on their faces, because the clothes help give some context as to the subject.
