I love the multiple sources of tension in this. In the foreground it's clashing discordant angles. And in the background it's ever-lurking mortality silhouetted against receding lines of distance that eventually and appropriately just disappear. This is not a photograph seeking serenity from the viewer. It's a photograph seeking uneasy reflection by the viewer.
I've always viewed graveyard scenes with a different feeling or perspective from all other images. Might be the somber feeling associated with them, but always with a bit of reflection back on life and history. This B and W version adds to the feeling. The worn fence provides some thought on era or vintage of the site. The shallow DOF provides some thoughts on life fading away over time too.......well done.
Spectacular as usual, Tony. The wood texture hooked my attention, but I could only glance the last couple days. Getting to see some detail is most impressive. Ken's comments seems wonderfully accurate. 'Very different treatment than nipia's super image, but also packed w/ fuel for contemplation.
