Photographed on medium format B&W film. Printed in darkroom on matte baryta paper. Tinted by hand using photo dye (Schminke DiaPhoto). Applied the dye using brushes and a small sponge. This was my first attempt of tinting a print; I have a lot to learn!
Wow, well done on the hand coloring. The color in the thumbnail is what caught my attention. The almost turquoise colors in the middle and middle right look really nice. The dry grass and "oak tree" green look amazingly authentic ( obviously the viewer doesn't know what the real life colors were, but these are very believable! )
Well done! I have never hand-colored a B&W print before, but my wife has wanted to for a long time. Now that she is two weeks away from retirement it might be time for her to try. Me, I'm not talented enough to do it myself and have a severe nervous disorder that induces tremors. I can operate a camera shutter release and darkroom just fine, but will leave the brush and pencils for her. I'm going to show her your work and it might inspire her to try. So, your work just might be inspirational.
Looks really good take it that the sponge is dipped into the photo-dyes and used for the large areas but I am not sure I understand how the pencils are used. Are these pencils that come in a set with dye in them or ordinary pencils that are dipped into the dyes and the normal pointed lead in the pencils acts as the applicator?
I figured it was brushes also, but then thought may be there's new pencils I had never heard of. Please make sure you show us more of your work as you progress.
