Grandmother Spirit

My grandmother passed away a little over a year ago, but she's still very much with me. She was a very gentle, funny, and kind woman. I miss her and think about her all the time, especially when I'm out in nature. I thought of combining these two negatives for the Monthly Shooting Assignment, even though the portrait of her is four years old, the picture I combined it with is only a couple of weeks old.

The theme is 'Near and Far' and the two photographs were taken on two different continents, also far apart in time - four years. In addition, my grandmother and I have a distance between us that cannot be bridged unless you have a time machine, but I still feel so very close to her.
