This is my Grandmother smiling on mothers day. I took this photograph inside her FEMA trailer. She had heart surgery a month after the storm and never fully recovered, she is confined to wheelcahir now, but her will has been unwaivered. She has yet to even see her house, even though she lives right in the front yard. Three Fema trailers are parked there and getting to house one has to step over a maze of sewer pipes and water lines, too much for a wheel chair to navigate through. "I'll take your word for it" is all she says.
Her attitude to the whole Katrina experience is a simple "What can you do? Nothing but keep living." and I admire her greatly for that.
