An interesting study, how long did it take to set up with such a large camera?
I am also curious about the tones as the upper areas mostly appear warm on my Macbook screen but the lower half appears bluish. What accounts for this or am I (or my machine) mistaken?
Beautiful, Monty! I am always amazed when I read '16x20 reducing back'... This is such a well done portrait. Like Shawn says, a very 'real' expression, and the look in her eyes is just priceless. She does seem very graceful, indeed.
To Eli, these prints are large and probably need to be photographed digitally to post here. I would assume that's where the blue tone/cast comes from.
Thanks Thomas, I was thinking the paper emulsion or developer was at different concentrations of chemistry.
I've done informal portraits and other model work with 4x5 studio and Speed Graphic cameras but I seriously wonder at how much more involved using such large gear must be. Of course the results of all that effort can sometimes be nothing less than stellar!
