I think the contrast needs to be there - this photo would be no where near as interesting with less. Great shot, very interesting crop. Really cought my eye, for what its worth!

Agreed-the contrast adds to the surreal impact that a Kafkaesque situation may be about to unfold. And it makes the smoke stand out too and that's good.

Why thank you Robert! That is indeed a great compliment! You see, here in Crete you are born with a pistol in your hand so I've learned at a young age to hold and fire one and plus it seems I have a pretty good aim... but I think you were talking about taking photos of them. My bad. Good compliment nevertheless, thank you!

Really wonnderful, Ari! Great crop and the contrast works for me. In fact its one thing I enjoy about your work, that you are not afraid to push the contrast beyond the textbook norms. Glad I found this one as I haven't been in the gallery lately.
