Another winner Cheryl. Does DDX give you the rich texture of blacks and whites as seen in your prints? I am thinking of changing developer but at the moment a bit confused on what sort of finish I am after. Looking at this shot, ddx looks great but am I barking up the wrong tree?
North, DDX yields a fair amount of grain but with better acutance than Tmax, which I was previously using. But rather than looking just at the developer, look at the film / developer / exposure combination, as well as the quality of the light. There are so many other variables -- the paper and paper dev, temperatures, etc, etc -- that it's sort of hard to say which part of the process yields which results. This scan is just from a proof print -- it'll get much richer when printed on fiber and toned.
Thanks for getting back. There is also the small point of actually taking the picture, which I believe there is an art. The reason for the change of developer is because supplies have been halted and not a lot of camera shops stock them (not a lot of camera shops stock anything to do with black and White, DIGITAL). I was just trying to get an idea. Close to producing one for the board so look out for it!
