Thanks! This is an art installation just outside the Rhyolite ghost town in Nevada. There are several other sculptures like this, as well as small book store / visitor center.
The scenery is very dramatic, and it's just East of Death Valley. This link has some more information.
I believe the sculptures are plaster-soaked fabric draped over metal frames.
Thanks for the explanation. In a densely populated country like England the whole concept of ghost towns is a difficult one to get your head around but I have heard enough to realise that such places must be fascinating to visit and this scene is a brilliant idea to complement such places
