Ghost Cars, Wyoming

I spotted these cars whilst driving between Rawlins and Laramie in Wyoming. There was about 6 or 7 in a line along the edge of the highway in a town called Bosler Junction. The town was virtually a ghost town and the constant wind, abandoned cars and late evening light had a very romantic feel to what came over as a very sorry and desolate place. I hope you like.

Very nice! I like the warm colors, it gives the foto a 70's - 80's feeling.

I like the color of the light. However, I believe it would look equally interesting in B&W - the clouds, the tones in the rusting metal, etc. Is it possible for you to revisit this scene in B&W? I would be intersted ...

Thank you for sharing.

Oops! I did not realize you had uploaded to the Critique Gallery. Please treat my remarks as 'comments', NOT a critique. My apologies.

I like the choice of the main car with its one complete headlight. You presumably could have chosen to shoot more of the 6-7 cars with a wider angle or moving further away but I think less is more here. The idea of abandoned cars is nicely conveyed with two and a bit cars.
FWIW I think a B&W shot couldn't have conveyed that gentle rust look and the warm evening feel.

I shoot mostly black and white consequently I usually prefer black and white prints but this really caught my eye. I love the warm tones against the purple late evening sky. I'm sure that b&w would be great but this is also wonderful.

I love the way you have caught this image. Fuji colours are superb IMHO and your image (particularly the sky) shows them off superbly. You have also used the 6x6 format to full advantage with perfect framing.. I need to try and work towards your standard

BTW have you read 'Beyond Monochrome" ? It's just that there are some old car shots in the book that could have been an inspiration for this shot.

Yhanks for sharing. CJB

Thanks everyone for your comments they are most appreciated and I am please you like the image.

I often carry back with colour tranny as well as my usual one with B&W. if an image appeals to me that it would work in both formats then I do shot a few colour images, as in this case.

Mike - I have to confess I dont have a clue what the cars are so cant help you there.

Well once again many thanks for your comments.

John

An "older" friend of mine is pretty sure that is a Hudson grille.

Very nice image, love the color.
