This is one of three photos which are supposed to have a strong emotional theme. What do you think? Do they work singly and as a group? And have we succeeded in communicating an emotion? If so, what does this say to you?
Ian this series is very well shot and work well together. That said, I am a little conflicted as to the emotion you are trying to convey. The style in which you shot these seems to be trying to convey a light air of innocence to me. The model on the other hand seems very conflicted, even borderline trepid, and I would expect a darker approach to compliment the feeling I get from her. Regardless though, the shots are very engaging. I find myself sitting here flipping between the three in quiet contemplation.
I thought the same as Valerie, Hiding, and I read her comment only after scrutinizing the photo.
Probably everybody would come up with different views, but for me #2 and #3 work best, possibly #3 being the strongest emotionaly, in my opinion that is. In terms of emotion, I would say:
#3 hiding ; #2 hurt / self-protecting ; # 1 difficult to say, she looks as in expectation of something. Altogether as a triptic, they could be like the letters of a new alphabet.
They are lovely and delicate. Superb.
I'm thrilled that so many of you have seen so many different things in these three photos, but Valerie wins the prize with Delphine a close runner up. These are the first photos from a "Faces of Eve" project that I'm hoping to do with Georgina. I'm not sure if all (or indeed any) of them will survive through to the final edit but for now I'm really, really happy with them.
