Gemaal Halfweg

Steam pumping station Gemaal Halfweg, the Netherlands. If you've ever landed at Schiphol airport, at -5m below sealevel to visit Amsterdam, this originally was one of the machines preventing you from splashing into a lake instead of land... ;-)

Now a very nice museum.

This is my first attempt on using liquid emulsion. I won't tell you how much paper I wasted before I got these results ;-( Still not fully satisfied, I will probably try to reprint at least two of the four...
Please note that the brush strokes in this image are more pronounced than in reality, probably due to the reproduction on Provia 100F and the use of strobes.

A wonderful series. I love how the brush strokes vary the density of the image at random. As Suzanne stated above, a perfect subject for this treatment.

Thank you all for the kind comments. It was a lot of work to pull this off, and I still feel I have just begun to explore the possibilities of using liquid emulsion...
